West Aurora School District 129

school district 129 kickoff shirts

Each year, School District 129 welcomes staff and faculty back with a district-wide kickoff event, complete with themed t-shirts. For this year’s event, with no set theme, the Executive Leadership Team wanted a design that celebrated what makes West Aurora unique. Collaborating with two colleagues on concept development, I led the design process—hand-drawing custom icons for each school building, arranging them in a map-inspired layout, and preparing production-ready files. The shirts were delivered on time, allowing every staff member to wear them proudly during the kickoff celebration.

Course Catalog Revamp

I was the sole designer for a complete overhaul of West Aurora High School’s course catalog, transforming it into a clear, engaging, and future-focused resource for students. Over five months, I collaborated closely with administrators to create a new visual design and integrate structured career pathways, helping students map out the courses needed to pursue college, trades, or entrepreneurship. From initial concept to final delivery, I coordinated timelines, drafted layouts, incorporated feedback, and produced a polished catalog that guided staff and students through the December course selection process.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Program

I designed the program for West Aurora School District 129 Sports Boosters’ ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the newly renovated Ormond Stadium using Adobe InDesign. The cover featured a combination of moments from the most recent football season, archival images of the original WAHS stadium, and blueprints of the new facility was made in Adobe Illustrator. The interior layout included screen-print-style images on each two-page spread, capturing significant events and memories tied to the stadium. The design emphasized the past, present, and future of the stadium while reflecting the community spirit of West Aurora.

Power of Us

Power of Us is a district-wide, seminar-based event held at the start of the second semester for district faculty and staff. The event features a new theme each year, with 2024 focusing on "Reset & Refresh." While the theme changes annually, the branding consistently incorporates a light bulb to symbolize power and the generation of ideas. The 2024 graphic was designed with a minimalistic approach, emphasizing visual hierarchy. The bold "Power of Us" serves as the primary focus, the glowing theme is displayed inside the light bulb, and the district number is handwritten within the bulb to highlight its connection to the district. This logo was applied across various media, including notebooks, sweatshirts, presentations, email marketing, and other event materials.

College, Career & Wellness Fair

The College, Career, and Readiness Center at West Aurora High School hosts the annual College, Career, & Wellness Fair, an event with significant outreach, including over 700 students from 14 high schools, 70 businesses, 34 wellness organizations, and more than 120 colleges, universities, trade schools, and military branches. I developed the event's branding and designed various materials in collaboration with the CCRC team. Deliverables included flyers, thank-you cards, punch cards for student engagement, attendee informational flyers, and T-shirts. The cohesive branding ensured a professional and engaging experience for all participants.
